Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Visit Kure (“we”, “us”), an independent English-language travel guide to Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture, published at kure-japan.com and operated by Masayuki Ogasahara, collects and uses information when you visit the website. We aim to collect as little personal data as possible.
Information we collect
Visit Kure does not require you to create an account, log in, or submit personal information to read our articles. We do not knowingly collect names, email addresses, or payment details through this website.
We collect standard, mostly aggregated analytics data to understand how the site is used and to improve our content. This may include your approximate location (country/region), device and browser type, referring website, and the pages you view. This data is processed through the third-party services listed below.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies for analytics. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; the site remains readable with cookies disabled. The analytics providers we use are:
- Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) — aggregated traffic and usage measurement. See Google’s Privacy Policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Vercel Analytics (Vercel Inc.) — privacy-friendly, aggregated page performance and visit metrics.
Hosting and infrastructure
The website is delivered through Vercel (hosting) and Cloudflare (DNS and content delivery). These providers may process technical request data such as IP addresses and user-agent strings to deliver and secure the site.
Affiliate links
Some pages contain affiliate links to travel partners (including GetYourGuide, JRPass.com, Klook, and Booking.com). If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These partners may set their own cookies and process data under their own privacy policies once you visit their sites. All affiliate links are marked with rel="sponsored nofollow".
Social media and Pinterest
We publish our own articles and illustrations to our social media accounts, including Pinterest and X (Twitter). To do this we use the official Pinterest API and X API solely to post content from our own accounts. We do not collect, access, or store personal data about other users of those platforms through these integrations. Any data you share with those platforms is governed by their respective privacy policies.
AI-generated imagery
Most illustrations on this site are generated with AI (Google Gemini) and are labelled as such. Photographs are original or used with permission. This is a content-transparency note and does not involve any processing of your personal data.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data, and to object to certain processing. Because we do not collect directly identifying information through this website, requests are typically handled at the analytics-provider level (for example, via the Google opt-out above) or by contacting us.
Data retention
Aggregated analytics data is retained according to the default retention settings of the analytics providers listed above. We do not maintain a separate database of visitor personal information.
Children’s privacy
This website is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
